Whitewater Center

Kayaking at Whitewater Center

During my trip back home to the Carolinas, it was a good time to take my nieces to Whitewater Center in North Carolina. This place was new to me as it is located literally right by the Catawba River. The facility includes outdoor activities such as ziplining, flatwater kayaking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and mountain biking trails.

Personally I participated in tandem kayaking since my mom and 2 nieces were with me which was perfect so that we could have one adult paired up with each one of my nieces in a kayak. Our flatwater session lasted over 90 minutes and you actually have an unlimited amount of time to navigate the river. This allowed for my family to have a relaxing time in the open water while we took breaks during paddling. After this activity was completed, we proceeded our the park to the rock climbing area since my nieces wanted to give it a try. Once the climbs were done, we decided to stroll around the park.

As we walked around the park we saw many people walking their pets, and even saw Scooby-Doo (or at least someone dressed up as him). The park itself is very family friendly and I would love to return one day as they have restaurants and running trails around the facility. I highly recommend anyone living in this area or vacationing around Charlotte, North Carolina to give it a try as the trails are free to walk and parking was only $6.
