Top 5 Culture Shocks about Medellin and Colombia

Top 5 Culture Shocks about Medellin and Colombia. Medellin from the park above

1. People in Medellin do not put much salt and sugar in their foods.

This would explain why most have great bodies and not as many health problems when it evolves around their diet.

2. This is not a suing culture.

Reason I say this is there are many high rise building with plant stands that could easily fall off the ledge onto an innocent bystander’s head below like an anvil.

3. They do not plan in advance.

Whether it be standing in line to have their metro card to be re-charged during rush hour or just poor sidewalk planning, the citizens here (and government) just don’t plan correctly.

4. Roller-skating and skateboarding are very popular outdoor activities in Medellin.

There are several skateboard parks around the city and I have seen a roller-skating park in the Estadio area.

5. Pet dogs are well trained.

I have not been a place in the world where dog owners are able to release the leash from their dog without worry that their dog will hurt someone but instead they will eventually run back to the owner with little to no push back.
