Tomb Raidering

Well after a brief stay in Phnom Penh, it was time to hit the road and make a 7hr cross country bus ride to Siem Reap. This was the longest such bus ride for me in a foreign country but everything for me went smoothly as this day would be about Tomb Raidering.

Once arriving at my hostel, I setup my tours for the next couple of days. After that, I took a brief walk around Siem Reap to get my footing of my new stumping grounds.

Siem Reap’s tourist zone is comprised mainly a dozen or so streets from local restaurants to some well known international chains. This area includes many street venders as well.

The next day I went on my tour to Angkor Wat. One can purchase a 1 day pass for $37 USD, not including the cost of a tuk tuk driver/tour guide you should hire for the best experience.

My day began with my departure to Angkor Wat at 4:30am for the Sunrise tour. Once at one of the main temples, my tour guide informed my group about the purpose of the temple, etc.

This tour was very through and we visited 3 temples during this day which conclude with a visit to the one where the Tomb Raider movie was filmed starring actress Angelina Jolie.

For any temple enthusiast, this tour is a must. My tour wrapped up approximately 7 hours later after it began.
