The first country to make Bitcoin as an official currency

Philly Dom, our friend, and me at a restaurant table.

The number 21 has a special meaning to me as this journey took me to the first country to make Bitcoin as an official currency. El Salvador is now my 21st different country I have visited, and is where Bitcoin and USD are the official currencies.

After arriving into the country and getting settled, I decided to reach out to Youtube travel blogger Philly Dom to see if our schedules would match. Once they did, I proceeded on foot to walk towards the location he was currently positioned. Only after a few minutes into the trek, a wary dog proceeded to bite me in the back of my leg without being provoked. Luckily for me though I was wearing jeans so the bite was not as bad as it could have been so I proceeded with my journey.

Upon getting acquainted with Philly Dom, we ended up meeting other locals who were very friendly at several different restaurants and bars. Per Philly, this is a common occurrence from his previous experiences in San Salvador as well as other El Salvadorian cities. We commenced our bar hopping at a packed and lively bar that lasted into the wee-hours of the night on the weekend that carried into the morning which can be seen here to give you a taste of what nightlife in San Salvador is all about.
