Thailand versus USA differences

——————————————————————————————————————-

1. Thai clothing sizes are smaller versus the clothing sizes in the USA especially for shirts. Where a XL on the Thai size chart is closer to a Medium in the USA or what is called a “shmedium.”

The Thai people in general are smaller versus US citizens which brings me to my next point.

2. In Thailand if you are over 150lbs/68kg you are considered fat.

In the USA, you practically have to be twice that weight to be on that list.

I noticed this case many times in terms of how women in Thailand perceive themselves.

3. In Thailand, while in a movie theater, there is appreciation before the film shown towards the King of Thailand in which everyone in that theater must stand.

This is the equivalent of the “National Anthem” being played before most sporting events in the USA where people are asked to stand to show respect for what the flag symbolizes.

4. In Thailand, many sports bars use YouTube as their source for music as I noticed many of the live streaming music websites I use in the USA do not work in Thailand.

While many sports bars in the USA use a music streaming service such as Spotify, Tidal, TuneIn, Apple Music, etc

5. Thailand uses the ride service app called GRAB which is very similar to UBER/LYFT in the USA.

6. Thais drive on the left side of the road whereas the right side is correct side in the USA.

7. When it comes to laundry in Thailand, they have also haveĀ self-service outdoor laundromats where there can be a coin operated washer and dryer along a walkway or down an alley.

In the USA, I have never seen such a thing.
