Phnom Penhs 2nd Look

Today I was able to visit a couple major historical sites in Phnom Penh which were S21 and the Killing Fields. I am not going to go into too much detail except they were part of the Pol Pot Kymer Rouge which was a regime that used a twisted type of communism to get their point across dating back in the 1970s.

Visiting these sites was a harsh reminder of what bad individuals are capable when allowed to rule without checks and balances.

The remainder of today I spent time visiting temple Wat Phnom, people watching in the Riverside area, and playing beer pong at Mad Monkey Hostel.

The another nice quality about Phnom Penh is that it is very safe. Even late at night, there are police on each street lurking in the shadows just in case they are needed but the good thing is I never saw any devious behavior from anyone during my stay. Aside from that most of the tourist attractions are within an easy tuk tuk ride or reasonable trek on foot.
