Krabi Central

Krabi Central. Ocean view in Krabi.

My next adventure after leaving Kota Kinabalu (Borneo) led me to Krabi, Thailand. In particular, Krabi Town which is a sleepy town filled with mostly locals and backpackers.

This town does not offer much in the way of premium adult entertainment unless you are into sleepy slow band music but it is a good place to stay if you do not want to be over in say Ao Nang or Railay Beach areas which have a more vibrant night scene in comparison. Me for this one, I decided to stay off the scene by selecting Krabi Town due to the local culture.

There are many tours to take from Krabi Town as most of these tours lead you over to Ao Nang or Railay Beach areas as I was here looking for a couple of 1st time experiences in rock climbing and kayaking. Both activities ended up very well will high skilled instructors who gave proper instruction while incorporating safety and making the experience fun at the same time.

During my stay, the 1st two days in Krabi Town I received the unwelcoming experience of heavy downpours. This is normal during rainy season as this happens typically 3-4 times in a day. My 3rd and final full day there was met with sun all day long.

To keep it brief, my recommendation for Krabi is to spend 3-4 nights only depending on the number of water sports activities and island hoping tours you have in mind for your stay. The activities and tours the area has to offer are both fun and extremely affordable for the common traveler.
