Koh Samui Full Moon Party

Sign of "Welcome to Thailand" at Full Moon Party in Koh Pha Ngan

One of my main reasons for coming to Koh Samui was to go to Koh Pha Ngan at the end of May for the Full Moon Party. The island of Koh Samui is in the southern part of the Bay of Thailand. Also the island is fairly large which is perfect for families and digital nomads.

During my arrival at night, I decided to book my Elephant Sanctuary activity. The activity included pick and drop off from my hotel. It is the perfect activity that allows interaction with the elephants in an ethical way. During the activity, you get to hear from the owner of the elephants and her reasoning for operating such a facility.

Some of the other activities I involved myself into included a Muay Thai Boxing match. Being my 5th time in Thailand, I had never witnessed one of these until this trip. The activity consisted of 5 boxing matches but I left after the 3rd one as there are so many great nightlife options to get into every night in Koh Samui such as a visit to ArkBar Beach Club. Not to give too much away, but this club plays hits from the 2000s until today that will have you rocking until sunrise.

Onto the main reason I was here being the Koh Samui Full Moon Party, well its not in Koh Samui as you take a ferry to a nearby island named Koh Pha Ngan. The ferry ride is about 30 minutes. Once you arrive on the island you see the immense options such as body painting, bucket mixers, and variety of food options before you go to the main beach where the party is at. Partiers start arriving at 7pm and you can leave the beach as soon as 12am or as late as 6am.

After it was all said and done, Koh Samui is now my 2nd favorite place in Thailand due to the environment of meeting other like minded travelers, tour options, the beach, and the once a month Full Moon Party.
