Here are some tips based on how I got around Costa Rica:
- Bus from San Jose airport (SJO) to downtown San Jose is 565 colones ($1 USD).
- Getting to Alajuela or Heredia from the downtown center of San Jose cost relatively the same for getting a one-way trip.
- Bus stations for trips to Caribbean cities mostly are found around Avenida Central and Ave 9 areas.
- Download the offline maps in Google Maps for driving navigations of cities you plan to visit beforehand.

- The best app to use is Rome2Rio.com which gives highly detailed transportation options and schedules.
- Beware of the taxi scam.
