Barranquilla Home To 2nd Most Popular Carnival

Me in the carnival museum by a float

My journey continues as I arrived back in Colombia to the city of Barranquilla, which is home to the 2nd most popular carnival. This city attracted me since it is on the Atlantic coast of Colombia in the state of Atlantico. I had visited other coastal cities being Cartagena and Santa Marta in the past and wanted to continue to explore this region of Colombia.

The city is mostly comprised of a mix of Afro-Colombians, Spanish, indigenous people, and everything in between. With that being said, one of my first stops was to the Malecon area which is comprised of eloquent restaurants and a playground. There is a place called Caiman del Rio which houses a food court dining style with about a two dozen different restaurants to choose from. My date and I decided to choose a Greek restaurant by the way but were amazed at the dining options as this place is perfect for bringing a date at nighttime since they have Christmas decorations currently that light up along the Malecon.

The other main stop had to make was to the La Casa Del Carnival (Carnival Museum. It exceeded my expectations since I thought he museum would only focus on Barranquilla’s carnival only. But I was wrong and it showcased several other top carnivals around the world before focusing on its own.

Well I look to continue to learn about this city on the coast as well as try out some different places during this Christmas and New Year’s season.
