Taganga and bye bye Santa Marta

Taganga And Bye Bye Santa Marta. Beach in Taganga

Today I went to the small fishing and beach town called Taganga to spend most of the day relaxing as it is a 15 minute bus ride from Santa Marta which cost less than $1 USD or 1,800 Colombian pesos to be exact. The location is surrounded by mountains with tours options to Tayrona National Park, diving, nearby beaches, and of course fishing tours. I passed on those to hike up a trail up the mountain to get a better view of the scenary and to take a walk into the ocean beauty that was there.

There are many tour operators that are very friendly and eager to have your business as they brought this to my attention a few times during my stroll along the beach. The area itself is filled with locals and many backpackers. This beach only has 1-2 atms, but don’t let this put you off as they have many mini-marts and restaurants to suit your needs and appetites. Some even take credit cards too.

At the end of the day I did trolled around seeing street performers until I ended up on a wrong street as 3 police officers approached and searched me for no good reason and asked me several questions. At the end of it they told me I was on a dangerous street and to stay in the tourist area streets. After this ordeal, I went back to the hostel to prepare for my trip back to Cartagena the next day.
