Kota Kinabalu aka KK is part of the island named Borneo which is comprised of territories owned by 3 different countries (Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia).
KK is a small city in the region of Sabah that is located by the sea mainly filled with many high rise building structures.
Now on from the brief geography lesson. After trekking around the city, I have learned that KFC is big here. There are about a dozen locations within such a small city area. Secondly, the fashion brand SUPREME is widely popular. I am not quite sure why yet but I may find the answer before my stay is over.
There are not a lot of things within the city to do and rave about but there are several day tours you can take onto the mountains, islands, and cultural tribal areas worth doing from Kota Kinabalu.
At the moment, I just completed a tour to the Mari Mari Cultural Tribe Village that taught me about 5 different tribes, architecture style of their homes, defense mechanisms, and how they prepared food. I enjoyed the tour since I was able to sample their various food & drinks.
Well I hope the rest of my time in Borneo is pleasant as this place is a welcome hidden treasure.
